Baghlan governor’s optimism over creation of 217th Corps

Provincial Governor of Baghlan considers creation of 217th Corps effective in securing Baghlan and preventing Taliban activities and says that enemies will be suppressed wherever they show movement.

Ahmad Farid Basim, Governor of Baghlan, states the corps has been newly formed and its troops are armed with advanced military equipment who can take big steps in halting the enemy in this province.

In the meantime, Colonel Abbas Tawakoli, Commander of 217th Pamir Corps, announced to the people about start of a widespread operation in near future for annihilation of Taliban sanctuaries.

217th Pamir Corps was established a while back to provide security in northeast and its personnel fight in front battle lines against Taliban in Baghlan, Kunduz and Badakhshan provinces.
