Planting campaign begins in Balkh province

On the initiative of Afghanistan People’s Institution, planting campaign commenced today by planting 50 seedlings on the premises of Independent Human Rights Commission in Mazar-e Sharif city.

Sayed Mohammad Yazdanparast, a member of the Afghanistan People's Institution told media that their organization symbolically initiated this trend to ask others to plant seedlings and care for them.

Meanwhile, Abdul Basir Yousufi, Greenery Manager at the municipality of Mazar-e-Sharif says the municipality has requested 50 thousand seedlings from the Agriculture Department which are set to be planted in 12 divisions of the city.

The planting campaign in Balkh province starts on 30th January every year and annually thousands of seedlings are planted inside Mazar-e Sharif city and other regions in the province, but lack of attention and maintenance causes most of them to dry up.
