Foodstuffs aided to 3,000 families in Balkh

A Saudi Arabian welfare foundation distributed foodstuffs to 3,000 poor and internally displaced families in Balkh.

Hayatullah Sabawon, adviser to the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations of the country says the foundation has supplied foodstuffs in most provinces of Afghanistan and after Balkh, it is set to provide assistance in some other provinces as well.

According to Mr. Sabawon the aides include 7 food items to every family which cost USD 50.

Families that have sought refuge in Balkh due to insecurities in northern provinces, do not consider these aides sufficient and say that they are in critical economic circumstances.

This happens while according to Mohammad Ishaq Rahgozar, Balkh provincial governor, more than 20,000 displaced families who need help live in Balkh.
