Izatullah Arman, Head of Independent Election Commission in Balkh maintains that registration was halted in Zareh, Charbolak, and Chimtal districts previously due to security problems, but now the centers are open and residents in the areas can register their names for elections.
He added that the registration deadline was 22nd June, but due to lack of public awareness campaigns, the process has been extended for 7 days to 28th.
Mr. Arman explained that there are 23 registration centers in Balkh province, 10 in Mazar-e Sharif city and 13 others in the districts and 4 days after start of the registration phase 350 people have marked their ID cards with stickers.
This in charge of Independent Election Commission considers role of media and religious scholars vital in raising public awareness in regard to elections and states that public awareness employees have started their activities in all the districts of the province.
Based on the timeline of Independent Election Commission of the country, presidential election is due to be held on 28 September 2019.
